Appleseed this weekend / Hopewell Junction NY

Its my first Appleseed this weekend and I'm *really* looking forward to it.

I need to go over the 'How to Prepare for an Appleseed' list, again, get my stuff together on Friday, on the road early Saturday. $20 says I forget something.

I'm staying locally, any recommendations for places I should stop by saturday evening? Great food? Something awesome/inspiring to see? Excellent local breweries or gun stores?

    Feedback is always welcome.

If you stick to the list you should be fine! As long as you don't forget rifle, ammo and mags you can get past everything else! And if its anything like the ones here there will enough extra stuff around from guys that you will be able to borrow anything you need!

Bring a teachable attitude and don't treat it like a competition! You are there to learn and the only person you are competing with is yourself!

Good Luck! Its a great experience!

This is based my experiences over the last 5 Appleseed's I've attended at LIPSA. I don't how they run them at Hopewell. You re going to have a long full day on Saturday. I would concentrate on cleaning your rifle. Prepping for Sunday and getting a good nights rest. Remember to drink lots of water the ENTIRE weekend starting Friday night.

I'll be up there Instructing at this one too Steve.
Hopewell is a great Range. Has grass to lay on. No sand.
Nice Clubhouse to go have lunch in and take a brake. Clean bathrooms.
Local Gun store is only about 10 minutes away.

Prices are OK but they always have everything. Even during the "Ammo Panic" they always had everything.

Plenty of places to eat too.

        See you there.

Brig plenty of water, sun screen...this is about learning , you're not competing. ..Appleseed is about learning and an opportunity to earn The Rifleman Patch. ..Take everything in, take what you learn to the range and practice those learned skills...Good luck, and enjoy the weekend. .

Day one over. Wow, fantastic experience. Incredible instructors and very helpful staff. A friendly experience and every participant is made welcome, regardless of skill level. No question too stupid so I really learned a lot about the shooting fundamentals today. It's the best $60 I'll probably ever spend. I have only good things to say, as you can tell.

Half way though the two day event and I can say with great certainty - I'm hoping to attend any future events. It's really shown me how to up my game.... and spending time with likeminded 2a people is always a pleasure. Appleseed, If you haven't been before - highly recommended.

I need a few beers, time to find a bar.

Glad you had a great day. Clean your rifle and check your scope mounts to see if they are loose. Drink a lot of water with those beers. Tomorrow you shoot all AQTs. Best of Luck

The Angry Orchard brewery is less than half an hour away.

What kind of half-assed brewery closes so early on a Saturday?

Good question. I ran a quick google search and it was only a half hour away from me, but closed early.

                    pity, I like their cider.
