    NRA Instructor Certifications

For many years I held NRA Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun and Home Firearm Safety Instructor Certifications. After getting out of competative shooting for several years, I let my certifications expire. I recently contacted the NRA about renewing my old certifications and was advised that I would now have to take separate courses from an instructors instructor for each designation at a cost of several hundred dollars each. Like I forgot where to point a weapon and which way to load a round into one. Looks like I will not be getting my certifications again, it is just not worth the cost. I can give advice for free. Thank you NRA!

It's not just them, pretty much any licensing agency makes you take retraining and hammers you new filing fees once you let them lapse. Been through it with a couple different qualifications and licenses myself.

That's a big change from when I took the NRA courses. You paid according to how many categories you were going for, but it was all in one test book. You filled out the appropriate sections.
Exercise the Bill of Rights. It's good for your Constitution.

"they" (yes, that they) had announced a range safety officer class just before the mass banning, which I was caught up in. Any chance of that happening here? Not the banning, the course ya knuckleheads.

The NRA wants instructors to stay active. It can even be a Appleseed, Hunters Ed class! All you need to do is have the student fill out a class registration online and the instructor puts Other for Class. We do this for the County Pistol Safety Class (Saratoga) also! My Club also gives the NRA first steps program as part of our new member orientation, New members reg right thru the NRA site. So if your an instructor you can do a lot of other types of class to add hours to your certifications
