G Shock watches

Anyone have one? Know anything about them? Wife got me one as a gift, said she thought it was durable and good to wear shooting. Owned a Casio calculator watch as a young'in but don't know anything about them today.

Have had mine, forget model, for over 3 years now. In construction and takes a beating. Still ticking! Love mine for the durability and value

Not crazy about the one she got me, everything is black and I can't see alot of it. Thinking I'm going to swap it out for this one. Just didn't know if they were reliable and durable, sounds like they are.

For most simple hiking, and camping, are there any advantages to a watch with GPS. I am pretty sure there are killer Garmin handhelds, etc., that do a lot more then an iPhone, or Galaxy S7, but I think light hiking (by light, I mean where you are not going to be risking you and your friends, or families lives if you go off course. I know the watches have to be somewhat limited, because of the limited screen real estate. Then again, I know better than to underestimate technology.

I could also be wrong, so really I guess I am asking if it is worth it to get one of the Casio's with GPS, or is not worth it with most phones having built in GPS?

I've been using G Shocks since the early 90's and they've delivered. Not as sexy as others - but they work.
