  • Takedown/Folding Rifles

For a while I was interested in takedown/folding rifles.

I am aware of the following:

    -Marlin Papoose 70PSS takedown (.22LR)

    -Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle (.22LR)

    -Pack Rifle (.22LR);
Home of the Pack-Rifle, the world's lightest, fastest take-down rifle.  Order online or through a distributor.  For more info call 435-755-0500.

    -Ruger 10/22TD (22LR)

-Savage Arms Model 42 Takedown Series (22 LR & 410 barrels)

    -M6 Scout Survival Rifle (22 LR & 410 barrels)
Our team of experts performed a hands-on M6 Scout Survival Rifle review. We covered the features, pros, cons, and uses of this excellent rifle.

    -Browning Lever-Action Takedown Rifle
I've always liked guns with personality, and this new iteration of the Browning BLR 81 Takedown certainly qualifies. Browning refers to this as the Black Label model, and even a cursory glance will tell you this is a different animal from the first BLRs that rolled off the production line back in 1969. There’s a whole lot of Picatinny happening here, with a two-part rail that runs along the top of the rifle and two rails positioned at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions at the front of the forend. Flip the rifle belly-up and you’ll see a couple of flush-mount cups for sling attachments. And, of course, there’s the sleek flash hider sitting at the end of the 16-inch barrel. What’s going on here?

-Taylor's & Co. 1886 Ridge Runner 45-70 Takedown Lever Action Carbine

    -Chiappa Skinner Trapper 1886 Carbine (45LC, 44-40, 38 SP, 357 Mag, 38-40)

-Aero Survival Rifle (multiple pistol calibers; Not SAFE Act Compliant)

    -Kel Tec SU-16B (.223/556)

Can anyone add to this list?

Love mine. Too bad it's "un-safe"

There are a bunch of pistol carbine conversation kits. Those are kind of takedown.

You can make your own with an H&R handi rifle by replacing the takedown screw on the handguard.

Thompson Encore can be made into a rifle.

How about shotguns? I have a 1924 Remington model 10. It still shoots great.

Some PCcarbines mentioned are no-go in NY anymore, but yeah, for practical purposes pretty much any AR with take-down pins :P and just about any pump action shotgun barrel comes out easily in seconds by unscrewing the tube screw cap. Great way to fit a ton of rifles on the top shelf of a large safe and save space, and any AR fits in a backpack.

I do miss popping a sub2K in an aluminum zero briefcase though.

Does this need to be new/current production? There is the Savage 99 Takedown - 1899 to the '80's I think Mine is 1928, with both rifle and .410 barrels. Have an old .22 pump that is a takedown too - Savage also, early 1900's.

                  Model 12, and some 1897s.

                  Also have various AR conversions.
US Palm put a teaser for an ak.
This is one of the more unique products from SHOT Show 2012. It's a break down / take down AK that allows the user to quickly remove and replace their barre...

Add all manner of folding stocked aks.

always been fascinated by take downs. looking at all the take downs in the collection of mine and my friends. they almost never get taken apart lol

another thing about takedowns i have learned. scopes just ruin their purpose if you keep breaking them down. iron sights is the best way to go with them. but that is my opinion

I just picked up a Chiappa Alaskan in 357. Fit and finish are superb.

Really? I've heard some mixed reviews for Chiappa. Have not had the chance to hold one myself though.

                          Predominately surrounding their M1 rifles.

Savage mdl 29b, or octagon barreled mdl 29?

                            One of my absolute favorites.
