    AR15 Build: I hate the Giessele G2S trigger...for now!!

I finally got around to building my AR15 yesterday. That trigger was by far the biggest pain in the ass to put together. Every time I had the holes lined up they would move just as I was inserting the pin. My thumbs are still sore from trying to hold the hammer down to line it up. I was ready to throw the damn thing out. It probably took me 20 minutes to pin the trigger and another 20 for the hammer. By far, the hardest part of the whole build. This trigger better be smooth when I finally get to shoot it.

I also need to buy a new bolt or cut down the bolt that came with my LPK because it is too long and wouldn't fully tighten my spur grip. There is about 1/8" of play. I must say that as of now, before shooting the rifle I think the spur grip is super comfortable. Of course, I didn't attached the upper to the lower because that would be a no no, but I like it so far. I'm using an Anderson lower and Brownells LPK.

Next, I need to have the barrel pinned and welded.

On many lower receivers, the hole for the grip screw is not fully threaded. No idea why. Maybe they can get a few more passes from the tap on the production line.

Just go to Ace Hardware (they seem to have the best selection of nuts/bolts/screw locally) and get a 1/4'-28 bolt, preferably with a socket head for an allen key. 3/4" long grip length should be sufficient. Probably cost less than $0.50.

The spur is the cheapest and easiest way to be NY legal, but how much you will like it depends on what kind of shooting you will be doing. It's OK for bench shooting, passable for casual paper punching, absolutely sucks for any kind of run-and-gun type of shooting, especially if it involves mag changes, JMO, YMMV.

You could try a 5 cent washer or two...

For the trigger I use a bamboo skewer as a keeper when assembling the 10/22 trigger group, and that assembly is a bigger PITA than anything else.

I really wanted to go with a carbine stock. I held the boar grip at campsite but liked the spur better. We'll see what happened once I finally get to put some rounds through it.

Your supposed to use an alignment punch when putting one of those triggers in. It makes the job much easier. Ive done a few Geissele triggers and all of them in less than 15 minutes. Getting the safety selector out of the way takes the longest. Correct procedure with correct tools often makes for more pleasant job. Geissele even has a you tube video demonstrating the whole procedure.

For the trigger find a drill that fits the hole and cut it so it's as wide as the trigger. Then assemble the Disconnector and trigger, put it in the lower and push the cutoff drill out with the trigger pin. It makes it really easy.

The anderson lower is NOT fully threaded and it is marked on their website as "use 3/4 inch grip screw". Either hacksaw it off or visit ace.
