Comprehensive Corrosion Test: 46 Products Compared

This is one long and exhaustive article.
The author has put a considerable amount of effort into this comparison.

I'll paste the bottom line .jpeg for those who don't want to delve into the article.

I bought Frog Lube. Strong smell of mint. Has no taste whatsoever (claims to be food grade). My biggest issue with it is, if you don't completely remove any and all traces of a previously used petroleum product, the combination turns into a sticky mess that takes a considerable effort to remove.

I use Militec 1 and Mobil 1. When I finish the Militec, the one quart of Mobil 1 I keep for my guns will probably last me the rest of my life.

Very well done article by the author. I have been a militec guy for a while, always treat new builds with it, but bought some frog lube to try out after i originally read this article.

Also, shame on you guys who are not tasting your different gun products. It's people like you who give gun owners a bad name.

Frog lube is a cocconut oil or some such thing isn't it? I use it on a couple things.
The problem with all these online tests is you can find a dozen or more and they all contradict each other.

Myself, I use 8-10 different products. I don't think there is a best, just a better for some jobs.

I see see they list CRC. I can't recall seeing it for sale in ages. Years ago we used tons of it on everything, like people use WD-40 today. I will say don't use CRC on blued guns. Years ago I had a S&W Model 36 that I sprayed down with CRC, wrapped in a rag and stuck it away. Next time I took it out the whole gun was this dull brownish color. It wasn't rust, but it totally ruined the blue job.
