Honor Flight Escort - May 14th

We will once again be calling on the motorcycle community to join us as we escort Heroes from Our Greatest Generation to LIMA for their Honor Flight to Washington DC for the day.

((And if you don’t ride or can’t make the escort be at the airport by 0600 to welcome the Veterans to the airport and join us on the sendoff line as we wish them well on their day’s journey.))

Saturday May 14th - 2016. There will be three escorts this morning with three separate stages, as we will be escorting WW2 Veterans to the Airport.

Nassau - 0500 hrs @ Floral Park Fire Dept, Reliance House located at 2 Holland Ave. Floral Park, NY 11001
escorting a Floral Park Veteran to LIMA

East Suffolk - 0500 hrs @ Hampton Bays American Legion Post 924 located at 55 Ponquogue Ave, Hampton Bays, NY 11946
possibkly escorting 2 East Quogue Veterans to LIMA

Suffolk - 0500 hrs @ BOTGNY - the VAC - located at 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma NY

All Veterans will then be escorted to Long Island MacArthur Airport
Please remember to take a minute and thank these Veterans for their sacrifices over 70 years ago

Let us show these Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Marines that we truly appreciate their Service to Our Country and give them a morning to talk about!!

For those that don’t ride, be at the Airport a little before 0600 and meet and greet all the Heroes going on the Honor Flight. Shake the hands of the Heroes and say THANK YOU. Some could also use a hand getting out of the car and into wheelchairs.

The return flight lands at 7:40 PM (1940) hrs for any of you that would like to be there to Welcome the Heroes Home please be at the airport by 1915 hrs (7:15pm)

All WW2 Veterans go on the trip for Free, paid for by community donations. This is a great way to Show appreciation for Our Freedoms that they protected over 70 years ago. WW2 Veterans are our living History and sadly they won’t be here for much longer.

I don't ride but if I wanted to be at the airport in the AM where should I park? The cell phone lot? Off-site and walk over?

You know..... I've done a lot of these but I've always been in the escort so I haven't got a clue. Lovemyglock and some others have driven to this event. Maybe one of them will chime in.

I usually park in the lot directly across from where riders park. I'm not sure if that's the short-term area. Maybe one of the riders can chime in?

Going on the Honor Flight as my Dad's guardian was the last thing me and my Dad did together. He passed three months after. I love and miss you Dad!
