    Base/Rings Price/Quality Difference.

I am building a bolt action rifle. My question is, Nightforce makes a one piece mount around $190 on midway, I can buy good leupold rings and base for around $80-90. What am I gaining in quality that justifies this cost? I just used the two products to highlight price difference in the example. I dont mind paying for performance quality, but am I getting 110% improvement?

I've used both and have never had an issue with quality rings. I would also buy better quality stuff as the caliber increases also. Larger calibers put a serious hurt on shit mounts.

What caliber are you mounting the glass on? Big boomer?
The relationship of the base to the action and the rings to the base and therefore the action can make all the difference in the world.
Others will know more, but in my experience the one piece mounts are the best for bench shooting.
Near the top of that food chain is the Spuhr.
My own personal favorite is the Alpha Mount by Near Manufacturing in Canada and I will have one on it's way to me as soon as I decide on the next tube size.
I have a Leuopld base and rings on one of mine (.308) and the set up is fine. Lighter weight than the one piece.

Rifle is going to be 300WM and then 338 Lapua once I have the time and money.

I also plan on bedding the base to the 700 action. I may end up 1 piece either way. Rifle will be used in a variety of ways and shooting positions. Budgeting at least 1.2k for the glass

Call Rich Near and tell him what you're building.
He's friendly and as knowledgeable as it gets.
Also makes one heck of a mount.
