Leupold has alot of quality optics in this price range. They are the benchmark in USA made optics that are reasonably priced.

If it were me I'd jump on a mark 4 before they stop selling them to civilians. You didn't mention your intentions for the rifle so that leaves a lot of options but 308 capabilities + mark 4 type scope = pretty good match.

thanks guys... just found a package deal for mark 4 4.5-14x50mm lr/t scope and the mark 4 30mm high rings and a bore sight for $870 on optics planet.... are they decent rings?

I have one of these on one of my AR10's the other one has a Millet scope in your price range, but given the choice between them I'd go with the Leupold. Also I paid $650 for the Leupold
