Not for me but for my newb brother in law....he will be attending next months Appleseed with me. I dont personally buy cheap scopes too often (ran a gold ring on my 22 last scoped Appleseed adventure) so I need advice as to what's decent in that price range. Thinking under $150, variable power 3-9?

You don't really need 3-9x for a .22 LR. I use this on my 10/22 and I usually just leave it on 4X.

Nikon Prostaff scopes are incredible for the price.Give a man fire, and he stays warm for one night. Set a man on fire, and he stays warm for the rest of his life.

Thanks....pro staff it is. That's a real good price for a decent name. Agreed about the 2-7... Plenty for a 22 but surprisingly the 3-9 is cheaper. One thing I noticed is that the rimfire scopes seem to have a 1/4" adjustment at 50 yards vs 1/4 MOA. I'm thinking it would be simpler and less confusing to teach scope adjustment with 1/4 MOA.

Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x 40mm Rimfire Scope on a Ruger 10/22. They have a cool website called Spot-On to support their BDC reticle scopes...
