Do you think the wind may have been strong enough to blow the laser beam around? LOL, sorry. I couldn't resist.

I am in a crowded part of suburbia but have had no problems sighting in my Mossy 500 for going after Bambi with one of those "laser in a cartridge" shells. The trick is to wait for just after sunset and sight on a neighbor's chimney or fence post. I don't even bother to use a gun cleaning rest anymore. The red laser shows up easily on a vinyl fence, someone's security light (if its off), etc. 70 year old plus shoulder appreciates it and Bambi's brethren have not. Mind you, I don't need it for 100 yards since where I deer hunt I am lucky if I can see a deer in the woods beyond 40 yards. You do need to slide any screen aside and open the door or window to eliminate reflection.

Went out on my deck and sighted in on the peek of one of the neighbors homes (about 75 yards away) and was able to dial in the scope. But somehow, I don't think this will work for you on Long Island. LOL Good luck.
How do you like the Lone Ranger? I friend was looking for one for quite a while, but could never find it in stock anywhere, even online.

I’ve developed a hankering for lever guns. ( this is my third). I really like it. Action is typical of Henry and I can manage 2-3” groups at 100 yards which is good for me. I’m sure the rifle in the right hands would do better. (In my defense, I’m not using match grade ammo)! My only complaint is the fact that Henry shied away from allowing the use of standard AR-15 mags. I actually found it from an online vendor in Texas over a year ago- but that turned out to be a scam. I did get my money back eventually. Then, about 2 months after getting my $ back, it showed up in stock with grabagun.com Being familiar with grabagun, I jumped on it.

I saved my friend from that scam in Texas. I thought it uses ar-15 mags? Or did they change it since the introduction?

bigbore44 : Only Henry flush mount 5 round mags will fit. I don't know if they did this for political or esthetic reasons. I was waiting for the tactical edition to come out - hoping that given the "tactical"moniker, Henry would design it to accept standard AR-15 mags. But no...and when I saw that they shortened the barrel length from 20 to 16 inches, I decided on the original model.

That blows, it definitely would have sold more if it accepted those mags. It's a natural fit for people who want that caliber not in a SA.

Success, finally! I used the laser bore sighter in the house to get the windage right, replaced the Bushnell 3-9 with a Vortex Crossfire, and today got bot guns zeroed at 50 but decoded to leave rather than wait for another cease fore to move the target then wait for another to retrieve my targets before heading home. Now I can't wait to get the 270 out to somewhere where I can try it past 500m, which is what started this. I put a 20 MOA rail on it because I want to try it at longer range. I was able to hot 500 rams with it. I wanted to go farther and thought the additional 20 MOA would make that possible. We'll see.

Hehehe... I was about to say you need to read the instructions. Most laser bore sighters are meant to be used about +/- 10 yards.

Glad you got it figured out.

Hard to see the puff with higher power rifles. You need someone standing behind you when you shoot at a chip, cup or similar on the berm, to tell you which way you are off.
