    Brass cleaning, wet versus dry

All, getting into reloading and I am about ready to buy a Brass tumbler. I like the wet tumbler with stainless media and I am leaning towards that over dry tumbling but I am not sure.

I would love to hear ideas here!!

i use a tumbler with media , it has worked forever , but the wet tumbler does so much nicer of a job.
dry you let it work for a time period and then separate the media and the brass. i will run a blow gun over the brass to separate what ever media is left in.
the wet tumbler ( which i do not own) you clean , separate the pins to reuse and then dry
friends that use the wet unit swear by it over dry ,

I switched to wet tumbling about 6 months ago and I'm never going back. The process is a bit more involved, but the brass looks like new when it's done. This is my process:

        * Tumble for 3 hrs with 1 tsp Dawn and 1/2 tsp Lemishine (Frankford Arsenal Tumbler).
        * Dump the brass and pins into the Frankford Arsenal separator that sits on top of a 5 gallon pail of full hot water.
        * Spin for a few minutes in the water to rinse all the pins out of the brass ( I leave the water running into the pail while rinsing).
        * Dump most of the water out of the pail and spin a few times to get rid of excess water.
        * Put the brass into a food dehydrator at 160 for 1 hour to dry the brass.
        * Use a transfer magnet to pick up all the pins and put them in a fine mesh strainer to dry.

It may sound a bit tedious, but it's actually quite fast to do.

I have both. The wet tumbler takes a bit more effort. But there is no dust and does a great job

I also wet tumble. I de-prime/size then tumble,
            Gets the primer pockets spotless.

Yup. Same here. Started out with Walnut shell tumbler and Ultrasonic cleaner. Cases still came out dirty, went with Frankford Arsenal pin tumbler and never looked back.

Im still using dry media with a little polish. Let it go for at least 24 hours. Brass looks ok, not great.
