    GLOCK SF models

Is there a big difference between the SF model Glocks vs the non SF

    #2
The experts will chime in soon, but this is the quick version.

SF frames are not Gen 4 frames (they are Gen 3 frames I believe). An SF frame has a shorter distance from the back of the grip to the trigger (less chunky, easier for smaller hands to properly grip).

A Gen 4 frame without a backstrap installed is effectively an SF frame.

OK, this is taken directly from Glock's website:

"The SF model reduces the circumference of the receiver at the rear, or "back strap," offering increased comfort and control—especially for shooters with smaller hands."

If you like the Gen 4 model's characteristics, I would just get the Gen 4 since you have more flexibility with the grip configuration. Remember no back strap on a Gen 4 is equivalent to an SF model.

I own 2 SF Glocks in .45(A 21 and a 30). I don't have Trump hands but still found the grip a lot more controllable especially considering the fact that both are double stacked .45 mags.
"Except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it." I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall God governs in the affairs of men. I have lived, Sir, a long time..."

          Pretty much this^^^

The difference between each/no backstrap on the Gen4's (and the Gen3 and Gen3 SF) is only two millimeters, but it can make all the difference for some people. I've tried every configuration, and doesn't make much a difference to me.

The Gen4 frame texture was derived from, and similar to the Gen3 RTF2 (Rough Texture Frame, design #2. #1 was never released) frames, but I don't believe the Gen3 RTF2 frames come in SF sizes.

I have a Gen2, some Gen3's including a RTF2, and Gen4's. To me, anyway, the difference isn't so great that I would go out of my way for a Gen4. While the Gen4 is more versatile, get what you like, what fits, and what you can get the best deal on.

I have stubby, Irish fingers and replaced my G30 with a G30SF and yes, the difference is very noticable.

No SF in Gen4, all 4's are SF sized.

Yes, it makes a difference. You feel it right away.
