Arkansas-based Wilson Combat recently announced an update to its Sentinel line of 1911 handguns, the Sentinel Professional.
The pistol is made to please folks who want concealability, performance, and looks in the same gun.
The Professional’s updates allow a flush-cut muzzle and reverse plug on the 3.6-inch slide.
A short barrel, countersunk slide stop, rounded butt, and concealment-friendly beavertail shape, are the nods to concealment in this model.
The Sentinel Professional is chambered only in 9mm or 38 Super. Magazine capacity exceeds that of the average 1911. A ten-round 9mm mag fits in the tidy 5.4-inch tall, 1.3-inch wide frame. The company’s spec sheet doesn’t mention 38 Super magazine capacity.
Wilson Combat said it guarantees a 1.5-inch group at 25 yards for all its pistols. That level of accuracy is assisted on this small model by a carbon steel frame and substantial weight. At 38 ounces unloaded, it’s a full pound heavier than, for example, a Glock 26.
Classic cherry grips, slant-checkered with a gold medallion, will appeal to traditionalists. 30 LPI front strap checkering gives traction to the grip. Likewise, the slide serrations are 30 LPI.
Standard sights are Wilson Combat’s U-shaped rear battlesight and fiber optic front sight. Many alternatives, including a tritium front sight, are offered as upgrades.
The standard trigger is a 3.5- t0 3.75-pound medium model. A short trigger, weight not specific, is an option.
Thumb and grip safeties, and the hammer, are from Wilson Combat’s trademarked Bullet Proof line. Bullet Proof parts have a lifetime guarantee against breakage.
Heavy machine chamfering on the bottom of the slide, usually a Wilson Combat option, is standard on this one.
Custom leather holsters are offered by Wilson Combat for their pistols.
Wilson Combat makes pistols to order, with limited supplies ready for shipment. As of this writing there is one Sentinel Professional in stock. Base price of the Sentinel Professional is $3,750. LE/Mil, active and retired, can get 10 percent off.
