Looking for Sig 220 in 9mm

    I've got five Sigs now: 226, 2022, 229, 320, P6. I think I want one more, a P220 in 9mm.

Wondering how common they are, where they can be found, and what the price range is for a shooter. Also, how they compare to any of the Sigs I already have in terms of shooting, etc.

I never see any on Gunbroker (about the only auction site I use....anyone have any other good ones?); arms list is devoid of any....and I keep looking locally here in Western Washington but no go so far. Also looking for a Browning BDA in 9mm, it's the same gun, but with no joy.

I've ruled out anything other than 9mm, the only non-nine pistol I have is a 32 ACP PP clone by FEG, so .45 and .380 are probably out the running for now.

I have no problem with the heel mag release (it'll be a range gun) and for some reason the gun just appeals to me...same as the older Berettas (1951 and 92s) and my Hi Power called out to me. There's something about those older single stack 9s I like.

So, any advice aside from "keep looking?"

thanks in advance. (and if anyone wants to post a pic of theirs....I love to see them.)

I bought my first Sig in 1994 and own more than a dozen. I've also been tasked with maintaining/working on Sigs since 1998 as an armorer. I've never seen a 220 in 9mm or heard of anyone owning one. I know they exist, but never saw one. I've seen the original Browning BDA (9mm, not the current .380 dbl stack version) several times, but don't own one.

Good luck in your guest, I'd be interested to see if you find one for sale and how much it would be.

I do not believe the P220 comes in 9mm. I think it only comes in 45.

ETA: Apparently they do exist. I learn something new every day. Would love to see one.

Early in its life ,The P220 has been chambered in 9MM, 45ACP, .30 Luger. Some hardcore Sig folks I know say there were also 9x21 ones for the Euro market with caliber restrictions along with either 22lr version or at least factory conversion kits. These ones would be the "old style" ones with sheet metal slides not the current milled slides which are chambered in the hotter & higher pressure 10mm.

You can get a P239 in .40 S&W, and get a drop in .357 Sig barrel right from Sig, and a Bar-Sto drop in 9mm barrel. Both barrels use the same slide and same springs. You can experiment with other springs, but you don't have to, and a few othe companies make the drop in 9mm.

So one fine Sig, the calibers. How do you beat that? The Bar-Sto's come fitted, or semi-fitted, and are match quality, so you are not sacrificing anything to have three calibers.

I know you have a 320, so you are familiar with the Sig modulars, but a drop in barrel, in case you never had a chance, is a 30 second swap.

Some P220's in 38 Super too I believe.

Might be easier to find a P225 or P6.

Yes, I forgot that caliber in the lineup! What CAS said might be very true as SiG hasnt offered the single stack 220 in 9mm, 38Super and 30 Luger in quite a while! The hunt is always fun though!

Yes it is a nice set but wickedly overpriced at 5K.

The old pinch nose. Is it a BDA or Sig marked?

Hmmm.....maybe that isn't a bad idea. Just send a check or money order to: "Guns for Redcoat" and PM me for the address of where to mail it.
