She’s got some miles on her, being born in 1918 and all. I’ve seen prettier but we all know we don’t always go home with the prom queen. Hoping to get out and shoot her this weekend and then I’ll post a range report on what it looks like to stretch the legs of a century old JMB masterpiece.

    +1 to Doug @782 Guns.

Cannot get pics to attach, I’ll try that again later.

Love it. Good luck shooting her. I’m going to go out on a limb and ask you to remove the firing pin stop and see if there is a number behind it. I “believe” that’s a 1911A1 slide and only basing that on the heat treat to the front of the slide but I don’t see the “halo” heat treat around the slide stop cut out so not sure. Also on the left side on the TG just forward of the mag release, what is that marking? ‘AA” ?

On the trigger guard right in front of the mag release. That’s just the inspection stamp and is correct for a 1918 SN

                        Haven’t stripped it down yet.

Check for me. If it had a SN it’s a pre 44 A1 slide
I have a feeling it is because I don’t think they re heat treated the slides in rearsenal

Behind the FP stop is a SN in 2 rows. 877 over 079. On the top side of the right frame rail is what looks like a R, further back is an 8 G.
                            Ill get pics up later.
I broke her down and I’m convinced there is WW1 trench mud inside the gun....heavy carbon and shit ton of dirt. Most of it is either cleaned or soaking right now.
A quick dry fit before going to the soak is much better than before, slide, trigger, safety, Mag release all function clean and smooth now.
She is homely though in a beer goggles 8 kinda way. Hoping she has a pretty sister out there somewhere. The search continues.
