    Ruger American Rimfire

Anyone have a Ruger American Rimfire? If so what are your thoughts on the rifle...I am looking for a relatively low cost bolt .22 lr and the idea of using the same mags as the 10/22 is pretty appealing.

My son tried a compact model at Freeport... Loved it!

I have one. Bought it specifically because it uses 10/22 mags. Didn't really like the plastic stock (I never do). Swapped it into a Boyds stock and I love it.

I loved mine for the first 11 rounds. Then it failed and it's going back to the factory.. I'll update once I hear more about it

I have the 270, shoots well take it out in the woods when its nasty and do not want to bring the wood out, do not see why the rim fire would be any different

I have the Full size RAR setup with a Nikon Prostaff EFR scope, Picked it up about 2 years ago very happy with it! And yes the 10/22 mags are a plus as I have three 10/22's. I got it for a bolt action Appleseed rifle as I have a 77/22 that is set up as a target rifle and to nice to be laying on a mat with!

The ladies on target program at my Club got a grant from the NRA for 3 of these with the same scope in the compact version! There must be over 20 RAR's that I know of members shooting at the Club. The modular stock is a great Idea for a all-around family or training rifle ( Also now available on 10/22's )

A friend of mine got 1 for himself and his wife, she wanted to shoot with open sites, installed Tech-sights but I will say we ran out of adj on the rear site at 50 yards ( 22" barrel ) so had to get a taller front post!

Good luck and Safe/Fun shooting with what ever you choose!!

Ruger received my American on Saturday.. They replaced the entire trigger assembly and they are sending it back.. They test fired 10 rounds to ensure function.

It is. When I had issues with my Mini 30 they replaced the entire bolt assembly as well as firing pin and fired 100rds of steel to ensure it would fire the rounds. I have had no faiulres since getting it back.
