Ruger Precision Rifle and the Rem 700 - how'd we do?

Steve T was good enough to let me try his RPR this morning and the target below - the better one - is my first two rounds.

The other picture is three rounds from my Rem 700 LTR.

    All at 100 yards.

I have to admit, the Ruger is one hell of a shooter.

    Thanks again Steve.rpr.JPG700.JPG

3 round groups are for sighting in.... 5 round groups are for determining accuracy. GTFO and put 2 more shots on paper.

    lol

all kidding aside seems like a great shooters.

Was the 200 yard range avail? would love to see MOA or below at 200.

Plenty of room at the 200, but my shots started spreading after a couple of boxes and I thought at that point, I'm just wasting ammo.
So I loaded up and bugged out.

And I could have shot the Ruger more, but I could see right off the bat it was going to hit exactly where I was aiming.
Ammo for the RPR was Remington (blue box) 150 grain.
My LTR only is happy with 168 grain.

Nah walk that bitch over and let the barrel cool and let your eyes rest for a minute. That's what all the cool kids do at the 200 yard line anyway.

My Mossberg MVP budget rifle shoots MOA or below with Hornady Vmax 50gr .223 if I do my part. Got 55gr vmax at sub MOA at 200 yards using the BDC on my Nikon P223 scope.

Fun times need to hit the rifle range again.

I'm smacking a 4" gong at 200 yards in prone like it's my job...

Try some heavier bullets with the RPR? I have been using 175 and 168 SMKs.. Did you put a brake on it as well?

From what little research I did on the rifle, 20" bbl and 1 in 10 twist, I would have thought it would be happier with 168 grain, but hey - look at the target.
There is no arguing with that.
If it were mine, I would try some heavier loads, but just in an OCD sort of way.
Not my rifle - it's Steve T's. No brake - thankfully, as I was shooting next to him.

That's not enought to draw any kind of comparison. Post 5 5 shot groups or a couple 10 shot groups.

Was testing hand loads. That was 43.2 of varget at 2.800" using Hornady 178 amax

I have to assume you're referring to heartless' pic.
What I put up was just for grins guys.
I'm not trying to write for a gun mag or do a full on review.
I read prior posts about the rifle and of course, the people that were knocking it without ever firing it and I was just happy I was able to give it a try.
I was impressed with what I saw.
                  Carry on.
                  Over and out.

After sighting in, everything was nice and tight . No other pics. Gonna load up some 44.2 and 44.6 and see how she likes it

I'm gonna grab a box of amax - How do they compare with the Sierra match kings?
