Breast Cancer Charity Shoot at Peconic River – open to public

Breast Cancer Charity Shoot at Peconic River – open to public

    Guys and Gals:

On Sunday, September 18th, Peconic river will be opening the shotgun side of the club up for a Breast Cancer Charity Shoot. Registration is at 8 am, guns go off at 8:30

All proceeds go to the charity. The club keeps $0 for themselves.

The donation is $50 for non-members ($25 for members), and will cover you for one 16 stand round of sporting clays.

    BUT WAIT, THERE’s MORE!!!

Included in the donation are chances at a few other clays games.
    1. The Flurry – two shooters, 24 targets, 60 seconds. (me, I’d see if I can have a gun loader for me, kind of like old school British driven shooting)
    2. The Crazy Quail – Team shooting event….100 targets from four rotating throwers in two minutes
    3. Long Shot Contest – 60 yard + shots. Because why not.

Also, chances are you’ll get hungry with all this shooting goodness going on. How about a BBQ chicken dinner for $10?

What’s that? Raffles? You’re into raffles? OK, there will be raffle tickets sold for prizes including Pheasant Hunts, Duck Hunts, Decoys, Knives, shooting lessons, etc.

For sure Rone will be there, and Vicktor is going to try and get out for it.

If you have interest in the event, contact Joe Iannacone JR at 631 957 8169

On a personal note…this is a great chance to shoot a very nice, very fun sporting clays course for $50. Combine it with the other shooting games and this is an event not to be missed. This is a top notch event hosted at a top notch facility.

The address for the shotgun side of the Peconic River Club is 1 Connecticut Ave, Manorville, NY

I'm very interested. How many targets do we get to shoot in the 16 stand sporting clays course? Is there any pre-registration?

Barnslayer, i'll reach out to Perry tomorrow and find out that info...provided shingle slinging doesn't get in the way.

Sig, lob a phone call into Perry on the pre registration and target count.

This sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
I have been there a couple of times (I have a friend who is a member) and it's a great course.

Barnslayer asked a very important question about where the money from this goes.

The money is split between three local charities. These charities don't pull any salaries or anything like that. The charities are:

                  1. Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition
                  2. Lucia's Angels
                  3. North Fork Breast Health

The money gets distributed directly to women who need help paying for treatment, or keeping food on the table.

Also no need to pre register, just show up with a smile and a shotgun.

Thanks Vick! I just wanted to make sure the proceeds wasn't going to one of those supposed breast cancer foundations that ends up giving the money to Planned Parenthood.

Yeah, his family has been around the club for years. He is actually the sporting clays director for the club, and he puts a lot into it.

Also I (vick) kind of grew up with his father running things, so when I call Perry "sir" it gets a good laugh. Old habits die hard.

ohh, and not to be "that guy", but a very talented local competitive small bore shooter lost her life to cancer about a year and a half ago.

Her name is Annie Goodman. We were both juniors in the smallbore program at Roslyn. We went on to compete against eachother in highschool (where she would mop the floor with me), and then competed pretty well at the college level.

So.....whatever you could do to help support this cause at the local level would be greatly appreciated.

                            Thanks,
                            vick

I was there yesterday with 4 friends & had an awesome time! The members of Peconic River really went out of their way to welcome everyone. That place rocks. It was so nice to do a round of sporting clays where none of the throwers malfunctioned. The crazy quail shoot was more fun then I could have imagined. Talk about your barrels getting hot. I must have fired off 60 or so rounds as fast as I could reload. The Yaphank Kid tried to talk us into doing the long bird shoot but I couldn't even see the targets (maybe next time).

Anyway I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all that put this great event together!
