A man went on a slashing spree early Friday in Manhattan, randomly attacking a trio of strangers in a terrifying 12-minute span along three different subway stops, police said.

The violence began around 4:25 a.m. when the suspect and a pal pushed a 44-year-old man sitting on a southbound 4 train, cops said.

The suspect then flashed a knife — and slashed the straphanger across the face . . . at Union Square . . .

. . . second victim, a 40 year-old man who he slashed in the face . . . another man, 41, was then punched in the face . . . at the Astor Place station.

The suspect then slashed a 44-year-old man in the head at , , , the Brooklyn Bridge subway station . . .

None of the incidents were believed to be hate crimes, cops said.

The suspects, both in their 30s, one with dreadlocks, are still on the loose.

This one is not getting the press it deserves. Apparently a gang of five people went out for the specific purpose of slashing/beating people. Some of them acted as lookouts while the others attacked.

Police believe the suspects possibly paired off at times during the pre-dawn rampage, with initial reports indicating an accomplice of the East Side slasher urged the man to slice his victims as a third man served as a lookout aboard the train between the Union Square and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall stations.

Four are arrested, NYPD is looking for the fifth:

‘Keep doing it’: Victim of Manhattan subway slashing spree recalls knife-wielding attacker being egged on by accomplice

The still-shaken survivor of the early Friday stabbing spree aboard a downtown No. 4 train detailed the gory fight for his life as one of the assailant’s partners-in-crime urged the knife-wielding suspect to “keep doing it” once the attack began.

          . . .

The pair never tried to rob him, the victim said — apparently satisfied to just attack the innocent stranger. Three other riders on the No. 4 train were subsequently assaulted as the subway rolled toward City Hall, with two stabbed and one sucker-punched.

Good Samaritan bitten and choked on NYC subway

            D train at Columbus Circle . . .

The suspect was harassing a passenger on the uptown train around 5 p.m. when another straphanger intervened, police said.

The attacker turned his ire on the 20-year-old do-gooder, and attacked him with his mouth and hands, according to the NYPD.

Police arrested the alleged attacker, who was identifed by sources as 44-year-old Billy Torres, while the victim went to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

              Some more background on these possibly misguided youths. The one being written about comes from a foster background with no family;

Teen subway slash suspect was kicked out of friend’s Bronx pad: ex-pal

Joseph Foster, 18, crashed at friend Jahntonio Grant’s apartment in the Soundview Houses until December, when Grant gave him the boot, he told The Post.

Grant, 23, said Foster has no family in the building and was in the city’s foster care system but had signed himself out. He wanted to help the teen because they both went through the foster care system, Grant said.

Continuing with the updates on this story, surprise the perp was out on a no bail release from a prior knifepoint robbery in January:

Suspect in subway slashing spree caught with victim’s backpack and bloody knife

One of the suspects in Friday’s terrifying Manhattan subway slashing spree was nabbed with one victim’s stolen backpack — and the bloodied . . . serrated kitchen knife allegedly used in the attacks inside.

The teen had also been collared on January 13 on first-degree robbery charges for an alleged knifepoint mugging and stabbing of a cyclist. He was released without bail at the time.

Defense attorney Patricia Wright on Sunday pleaded to Judge James Burke for leniency in setting bail, insisting “there are no injuries caused by [Foster’s] involvement.”

“He has a 3-year-old daughter. [Editor's note: Foster is 18 today, so he must have fathered this child at age 14 or 15] He graduated high school. Track and field, played football,” Wright said. “He was released on supervised release. He has a history of perfect attendance with his cases. Monetary bail is not necessary.”

Three violent random attacks mark another morning of NYC subway mayhem

One straphanger was robbed at gunpoint and two others socked in the face early Sunday morning in another round of public transit violence, according to law enforcement sources.

The mayhem began at 5:30 a.m. on a northbound 6 train in Manhattan when three men assaulted and robbed a 41-year-old rider, sources said.

One of the assailants asked the man, “Why you lookin’ at me?” then another punched him in the face with a closed fist, sources said. The three men fled with the victim’s phone.

Three hours later, at around 8:30 a.m., a customer heading to work on a Brooklyn-bound F train was robbed at gunpoint by three men, who fled with his cellphone and cash, according to sources.

In a third incident at 9:36 a.m., a 56-year-old woman allegedly socked a 70-year-old woman who was waiting on the northbound platform for the Lexington Avenue line at Union Square.

                      Very Final Destination:

‘Just a happy guy’: Teen killed by Bronx gunfire was recovering from random subway stabbing

A teen killed in a barrage of bullets outside a Bronx park was no stranger to the city’s surging violence — he was recovering from a random subway stabbing when he was gunned down, his family said Sunday.

Armanis Valdez, 17, was fatally struck in the chest, one of five people hit when someone opened fire across the street from Claremont Park about 9:05 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

About 4 p.m. March 19, Armanis, then 16, was riding an uptown D train when a stranger dropped a bicycle on the teen’s foot, sparking an argument, sources said. When the train came to stop at the Fordham Road station, his rival stabbed him in the torso.

And the final shoe to drop . . . it was a gang initiation.

Manhattan subway slashing spree was gang initiation — and one victim lost an eye, prosecutors say

One of the victims of a horrific subway stabbing spree lost his eye in the attack — and the teenage suspects staged the early-morning rampage as part of a gang initiation, prosecutors said Sunday.

The gruesome details emerged in weekend court appearances for two of the three teens arrested in the Friday attacks, which left five victims bloodied and battered in lower Manhattan.
