I know what you mean re the double standard.

However, I still feel compelled to state the obvious.

There should not be any outrage here, or in most of the other cases.

He clearly refused to follow basic instructions on numerous occasions.

You do not have the right to resist an arrest (even a wrongful arrest - tell it to the judge). If you do, bad things will likely happen.

Police are supposed to come home at the end of their shift. If they don't, there will be no one to report to work the next day.

I look at it on an even more basic level: A person is pointing a loaded firearm at you. The profession or status as law enforcement is irrelevant. You do not reach to your waistband or behind your back and expect not to get shot. End of story.

Obviously you should obey orders from police anyway and as Simpleman stated, if they're in the wrong you address that via the legal system or file a complaint. But my point is that with all the sob stories and the "Is my child next" questions, the fact of the matter is that NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY AFRAID OF THE POLICE. If they were, they'd comply. Anyone who was actually afraid of getting shot would comply, put their hands up, and surrender.

If it weren't for the all too real life and death consequences of this charade and the hardships that police now face every day going to work this would be a bigger joke than the FBI "investigation" into Clinton.

Seems like that might have been a good case for less than lethal rounds. Looks like that may have been suicide by cop.

Generally speaking, you don't meet a potential deadly threat with 'less lethal' force. Time, distance, cover, amount of officers, etc. would figure in that equation.

I guess the cops didn't feel like getting shot.
Justified shoot from what I see.
