I buy one way tickets all the time. Sometimes you can save real money splitting tickets, sometimes it is well worthwhile to buy a ticket to one city only to connect to another city right away. I have flown in and left the same airport with half an hour of arriving.
Next time the TSA guy gives me a stink eye I'll ask to see his DEA credentials.

BTW, who can I call for bail money?
