I cannot disclose the name, she's an active lawyer and due to ethical reasons, we don't solicit clients during our classes. We do however show you how to find and qualify a good criminal attorney in your area.

She's very up to date in the laws of the State of New York regarding the use of deadly force and 2nd amendment.

She has been doing this type of presentation for some time now and is glad to spend as much time as possible during our class to respond to everyone, many times going well beyond the 2 hrs of the class.

She's a gun owner and a good shot.

Let me know if any other questions.

My point was what’s her experience? I’m an attorney but I don’t practice in the area of Constitutional Law. You wouldn’t want me to handle your closing either.

And she’s allowed to hand out cards during a presentation. There’s nothing unethical about that per the rules of ethics for attorneys. Just sayin’.

She's is a criminal defense attorney and very experienced.

The decision not to solicit clients during the presentation was hers, and I just won't argue with her.

Interesting class idea. But reality is for anyone in Nassau, Suffolk, NYC, if you use your gun for any reason, even in defense of your life at home, you are fucked. You will definitely have your license suspended immediately(SOP), and your guns removed. Then you will be in for the fight of your life proving your innocence, and then trying to get your guns back. This may not be what the law is, but it is reality in this part of the state. And in this part of the state, they do not seem to care what the law is.
So, if you ever have to use your gun, you better make sure it's worth it, as you will probably lose them and be embroiled in an expensive court battle.

I wouldn’t either. And that’s pretty cool of her.

Good class with good advice. I was able to listen in while I was waiting for defensive pistol to start.

Seriously, you're better off just shooting yourself, and even then the intruder would probably turn around and sue you for post traumatic stress...

If I ever had to use a gun in self defense I wouldn't blurt out I took any kind of self defense class, legal or practical. just shut up and say I want a lawyer and I feared for my life or the the life of someone right next to me.

yea that part will come .. you'll get lube if the shooter clearly fired first, preferably at a 3rd party. If he didn't fire 1st holding a unloaded air gun, no lube for you.

yea it's the Washington post , but it's on subject https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.d563f8065214 as you read the comments by "professionals" trained to meet requirements uniform can do worse than dedicated trained civilians,, what else is new...

It’s all true, the police may arrest you, your gun may get confiscated, the prosecutor may file charges but don’t you want to have the best chance of a legal defense as possible? I do.

The idea here is, if you NEED to defend "your life or the life of a loved one", w/ a firearm or otherwise (this class goes beyond firearm use), inside the home or outside, you better know the law, have the phone # of a good criminal defense attorney in your back pocket and be prepared ahead of time, as to minimize the consequences, cheap insurance.

Self-defense training plays a big part (firearms or not), being aware of your surroundings, avoidance, de-escalation of situations, what to say or not to the police when they arrive, having a home defense plan that includes the “entire family”, security locks, an alarm system, lighting, proper landscaping, cameras, a safe room, maybe a dog or two, just to mention a few things is the key, like you said, this is NY.

There is no time to figure all of this out at the last minute when you’re confronted w/ such a “unique situation” on the street or home at 3 am.

*Please be aware, I’m not an attorney and this is not legal advice.

I would add to this a section of the course for the non-firearm spouse/family member(s) as well.

Your wife needs to also know what to do, say/not say, etc. even if she isn't the one behind the trigger.
I am not armed out of fear of who's in front of me.
I am armed out of love of those behind me.

Anyone who says money doesn't matter to them is either a FOOL or a LIAR or BOTH!
