As posted above, most Anderson dealers have top notch installation crews, and of course verify first, but Anderson stands behind their dealers work. Marvin is also top notch. If you need custom sizes, both these guys can put together top notch thermopanes in any size you might need. As Rubbermittens above does this work (and the guy is an amazing craftsman based on the knives I have seen) I would see if he agrees with Marvin too, but I know many people that were thrilled with the whole process, from ordering through install.

Why Thank You, The other reason I suggested Renewal is because of how they install the windows, no damage to siding trim etc. They are very good window. As far as my opinion of Marvin, Well Ive installed hundreds of them as they seem to be the choice of the wealthy and the only ones that are easy to get approved by the village of southampton ARB board, They are in my opinion Not a great window in comparison to anderson
I just dont do Knives, Custom entry doors, cabinetry, ceiling treatments, panel systems and wine rooms and More! And yes I build EVERYTHING from scratch no pre purchased anything here, I even mill my own lumber from the mill. Too bad its a not as appreciated any more and everyone is switching to those Modern style homes where the trim work is all drywall and cornerbead. 3 more years left.........

And that is exactly why I knew you are the person to ask. The only thing with Anderson's, which I used to replace every window in my house when I bought it was, they do have the a few a different grades that they can swap out and use, if they think they can get away with it. By no means do all Anderson dealers do this, but it is something to watch for. Some dealers will use the cheaper ones if they think you are just shopping for Andersons by their rep, but don't know anything about them.
As as far as Marvin, exactly as Rubbermittens posted, they have a huge affluent following, although I never knew if it was deserved. Many people swear by them, but someone that handles them professionally has just let us know the reputation is overblown. I have a client that blew $300,000 on them a few years ago. He was happy as a clam, but also has five actres on the LI Sound. He loves the Marvin's, but of course that is very subjective. Sounds like Andersons might be the way to go.

I knew you did more than knives. I just used them as an example because what you are able to do with the knives blows me away. Your attention to detail, etc., is freaking amazing. I consider myself pretty good with relatively low level projects, but I couldn't do the stuff you can do, not a chance, and the knives being a major example.

Where's your self confidence man? A journey of a thousand leagues begins with one step.
Not knowing what I'm doing never really stopped me from doing. I don't fear failure, only not trying.

Nice! I bet you could build some nice Mission style furniture too.

Well said, but I know my limitations. I consider us one big happy family here, so maybe I am a little too honest, so it appears that I sell myself short. I could not make a folding knife at the level of Rubbermittens if I had a full machine shop, and Scarlet Johansson was laying in a bed in panties as my reward for making it right. Not happening.
When I was 15, I started working on my older friend's cars, like tricking out their transmissions with B&M shift-kits (which was pretty easy stuff), swapping intake manifold to put in Holly double pumper carbs, doing headers, lift kits, and air shocks, which were all really simple, so back before you needed a diagnostic computer, I was a pretty decent self-taught mechanic. I also got into car stereos and speakers, but I never asked for more than a few six packs of beer for while we were working for any of it. Never charged a friend a dollar. So I had a pretty cool reputation for car stuff. I ended up doing more serious stuff mechanically, and with stereo systems with amps and high end speakers, some of the people I showed how to do a stereo install now own big shops that you guys would know the names off. After cars, I got into computers, but I was a few years too early. One of my friends wrote the code for Pong, the original computer game. I think Atari, or Nintendo, or one of them stole it. He's a big shot at Apple now.
Now that I sound like I am leaving a resume, my point is I am the epitome of the expression "Jack of all trades, master of none" which is no compliment. I'm really good at a lot of minor things, but I could never do something like those knives Rubbermittens does. Just not in my wheelhouse. On the other hand, I have repaired some pretty "complex" knives, which was something that I figured I would take a shot at, and surprised myself! My point is, whatever the definition of this stuff is, like left side of brain vs. right side, I can fix stuff, but I am not creative. Best example - I am a pretty good photographer. The composition, and lighting comes as second nature, and I have some published work. BUT, if you handed me a piece of paper and a set of colored pens and asked me to draw something, it would look like it was done by a 5 year old. No creativity, but composition, 100%!!!
Renewal by andersen will prolly cost $1500 per window, if not more, had an estimate on my house, ranch, and it was ridiculously expensive
Yup...Get a quote from Rubbermittens and the Anderson quote will look tame. It takes a lot to change a window and get it right. Any dickhead can do it wrong. It takes a lot of time to do it right. Time is expensive. Talent is really expensive. Time and talent are outrageously expensive.

It takes a lot of work to replace a double or triple pane window that is broken. Most any store front glass shop can do it. You might save some money bringing the broken section in for them to measure. A member on the " other " forum is glass man big time ,look him up, Fox Glass. I know he has a shop in Hicksville.
