Van & Shed broken into overnight...need security camera advise

1 of our vans along with a shed were broken into overnight.

The van was parked at the top of our driveway, with a 2nd van parked behind it. It was not locked. The driver's door was left ajar & the the glove box was opened & gone through. Nothing that we could tell was taken.
An old bike, not ours, was left next to the other van, near the bottom of the driveway.

Our shed, in the backyard was found with the door partially open. A 26" men's mountain bike was taken. The back yard is surrounded by a 6' fence. Both gates are padlocked...and still are...no sign of them being opened. A few items on our patio were moved, but nothing else taken that we know of.


So what are good brands of security cameras & who installs them?
What features do I look for?

Anyone have them recently installed?

It seems so. We think there were looking for my older son's bike...A Cannondale bad Boy #5. Instead they took a old $125 Mongoose.

There is no way to see the shed in our backyard from the street.

Yeah, 1st thing we checked. They were still there.

The only thing that was taken, that we're aware of, was the bike & our peace of mind.

If you want something quick and easy the Netgear Arlo cameras will record when motion is detected and you can view live and recorded video on your phone.
Battery operated so no cable required.

Maybe it's overkill but how about running this past your auto insurance company? Why risk someone using your insurance info? Maybe they took pictures of your card. Getting the policy number changed or changing companies altogether might be paranoid but it came to mind.

Do you hire a landscaper? They'd know about your shed.

We do our own landscaping...but our neighbors use them. My wife thought of them too.

VOICE ALERT. Great product (available on Amazon) if you want to catch them in the act. Adjustable coverage and expandable.
Mount it 3'-4' off the ground to avoid animals.

Arlo is good for one or two locations...beyond that you'll want a more robust system. I don't know much about full systems but as TTSkipper said, Northforksportsman does.
