  • Local Safe Dealers.

Just wondering about any local safe dealers that you guys have had positive experiences with.

I am looking to get a larger safe, but want it to fit in a specific area (enclosed on 3 sides and top/bottom) and the door needs to open to the left (tougher then I thought to find). I found a company in Cali ( www.sunweldingsafes.com ) that have what I need but the freight is around $350... just want to see if I can get anything locally before I order from them.

    Thanks in advance!

Suffolk County Locksmith is a sponsor and gives a discount to our members. Ask for Lonnie or Jeremy and tell those bungholes that I said to hook you up.

      C'mon dude!
Suffolk County Locksmiths. Look at the banner at the top of the page.
Have heard nothing but good things.
And, they're supporting our sorry asses.

Thanks. Look at that... even says SAFES right on the banner. lol

Added bonus that they are in the same shopping center as one of my favorite Italian Restaurants in Bohemia and 5 mins away from my office. I'll hit them up tomorrow.

        Thanks!

Thanks, I live right between both stores so I can hit them up on the weekend if need be.

I see they carry AMSEC and Gardall. Think I found a model number for a safe from each company that might fit my needs (except the left hinge deal... hopefully they will have an idea/other option or maybe I can figure out a way to modify the space I have at home).

Hopefully they will have one or both on display.
            Thanks again!

They will have to order it and AMSEC does left hand open no charge.

Just bumping this up in case anyone else have ever purchased the all elusive left hand opening safe. I hit Suffolk County Locksmith as well as Abetta Safe & Lock in Farmingdale on another members recommendation. After a few visits / calls to get an answer, they both told me no way to get the left hinge in the safes they carry (AMSEC, Hollon and Gardall).

Thanks in advance, just giving a last shot before taking the hit with shipping one in.

AMSEC will make you a left hinge safe, 6 week lead time as it is special order. Also consider you could put in a regular safe upside down . . .
Know your rights/Refuse peacefully to consent to a search /Ask if you are free to go or are being detained/Even if you are not doing anything wrong the 4th Amendment protects you against unreasonable searches/Never say anything to law enforcement even if you think it will help you/If questioned you should clearly and unequivocally request that you would like to have an attorney present and defer any questions until then/Never go to prison because you are afraid to go to jail.

That only works if you have a safe that the door isn't on lift-off hinges... The dial location will also now be near the floor, AND upside-down. (You could make a new index mark, and figure out the combo easy enough, and a digital might just unscrew and flip over)

CALL AMSEC - tell them what you want, get a model number, THEN go talk to the local dealers who are telling you 'no'... "Yeah, but I talked to Bob at AMSEC and...." I've dealt with a LOT of dealers who didn't want to be bothered trying to sort an unusual requirement... Great fun when I went to order a brake master cylinder rebuild kit from Toyota... and "they don't make that, only a complete master assembly" (for 20x the price) and after arguing a little for giggles I said "OK, well how about you just order these part numbers for me then?"
Imagine his surprise when one of those parts pops up as.... a Master cylinder rebuild kit...

Thanks. I have a call in to AMSEC and will also call Hollon Safe (I really liked their safe) to get part number info. I called a bit early, so will try again at lunch today.

I'd would have thought that for a $1,200+ item they would have made a call to their dealer instead of just telling me not possible. I need to remember to keep my expectations of others low this day and age.

As for the upside down safe, I would rather not have to do that if possible as I am planning for a mechanical rather then digital lock and it would not be ideal to have to get down there to open all the time. It is another option is all else fails though.

                        Thanks guys.

Can't tell you much about it, but I saw an actual retail Liberty safe store on rt 110 not far from Adventureland. I heard rumors that he was the Liberty safe dealer that used to be in Wyandanch.

That safe dealer on rt110 ordered my Amsec safe special. More like 8-10 week lead time. While putting the stuff in the safe I wanted they ask me if I wanted left swing open.Call them and ask for Asher he will get you the safe you want. 631-643 6141

Thanks guys. My calls to the manufactures have not heeded anything yet. Amazing how hard it is to spend money it seems.

I will hit up the Liberty Safe dealer early next week. I will be in that area for work at some point.
