Firearms safe / cabinet project --

I'm almost done upgrading my little storage box --

Felt lined -- ( the green Michael's offered looked too dark so I went with the Aqua -- why -- because I felt like it -- ) --

Adjustable shelf brackets w/ plywood shelves --

    110 V power inside --

    LED strip lighting - ( big improvement ) --

Fabric / nylon door small stuff hanger on inside of door --

Tool bar magnets for handgun "clips" --

Front door floor mat for the bottom - ( still looking for the one I want ) --

    Golden Rod -- ( on Amazon order ) --

Home made rifle rods - ( as soon as I buy small diameter wooden draw pulls ) --

Now as my Pappy used to say -- "When you get to the point --- raise your fuck-en hand" !

What are you guys using for moisture control ---- Damp-rid hanging pouches ?

I use an electric dehumidifying rod. Works well.

        I made a lot of rookie mistakes I'll correct -- eventually ?

Shelves are just a tad to deep - the mags hit the shelves --

I have to fill in some short trimming of the felt in the corners --

The magnet bars interfere with the inner door lip --

        All correctable - LOL

I'm shopping for a dedicated ammo cabinet so I can add more shelves for handguns --

As I understand it -- the heat from the rod circulates the air -- but -- ya-need something to remove / trap the moisture --

( 100 years ago when I laid up the Vette for the winter -- I had a 50 W light bulb clipped to the center console for air movement & 5-ish 1/4 lb. silica gel bags laying on the dash board to dry the moving air -- because of the venting in the car -- they got saturated with moisture every month & needed drying out -- )

unless you're book smart/internet smart......then you read it, figure you know how to do it, and tell everyone what they're doing wrong when they actually try.

don't we all have friends like that?

literal conversation once a week in our house:

"How did you learn to do that?"
"Well I screwed it up a few times and had to re do it...now I know how to do it mostly right"

                or

"but you don't know how to do that!"
                "ok.....but unless I try I'll never learn".
