    Transfering a handgun

Does transfering a handgun to someone as a gift require going to an FFL or can that be done at the Police Station?

AFAIK you need an FFL. Not sure if that's true for immediate family.

Spouse to spouse or parent-child and vice versa can be done at PLB. Everyone else needs to go thru FFL.

A few years ago I was able to transfer a handgun to my brother at Nassau PLB without an FFL. Maybe Suffolk is different?

I’m basing that information on the exemptions on the penal law for background checks, siblings are not mentioned whether that provision gets enforced or not is another case.

M_F you are correct. Siblings are not exempt I got carried away in my second comment trying to make a crappy joke.

For some reason, I was thinking a gift didn't need to go through an FFL. Must have been a crazy dream...

          Me: Wanna buy this Glock?
          Friend: Yeah
          Me: Give me $300.
Friend: OK, here. (hands over cash)

          Transaction done.

How’s the transaction “done”? You didn’t give him the gun! You, sir, are a crook!

Bait and barrel is closed today? No one is answering the phone. What is the next FFL as close to yapank as possible, besides bensons.

Never mind, they answered the phone.

All done, B&B charged 40 bucks for the transfer, I thought I read on here it was $25.
