    Timeline SCPD pistol permit

5 months since I submitted, early dec 2015.
    6 weeks since my interview.
All four char references notarized and handed over during the interview. No history, nothing whacky, no awkward discussion points.
My wife came along for the interview (sat outside) so the I/O skipped the phone call to her and asked her directly. No issues obviously.

.... waiting..... time passes, slowwwwly. veeeerrrryyyyyy sllloooooowwwwwwlllyyyyy.

I received mine 5 months after my interview. Do you have pistols to transfer in from out of state?

I was also around 5 months after my interview. My sister is a couple weeks behind your timeline (finally got her to put her application in as well).

They were cranking them out for a short while but they have been slammed there. Most new Lic holders are telling me like the others have said 5 months or so after the interview.
            Like Havfun said start saving.

I really need to stop procrastinating and start the process. If I had two years ago I would have a sizable collection by now.

No time like the present to get started.

Yep. When I went for the interview late March, they said current application interviews were being scheduled for September. Significantly higher than normal backlog currently. They're swamped.

On the bright side, you're inline, you've done the hard part already.

The wait is the worst part. Do you have a shopping list ready?

Sig 226 in 9mm. In need to hone in on the exact model. Last I checked it had a dozen or so variations.
I just keep hearing good things about this gun.

The wait is terrible. My friend in New Jersey said the process took him 3 weeks. Lucky for me, I travel occasionally for work and get to visit ranges and rent handguns. Ironic I have to leave New York to legally handle and shoot a handgun. Oh well, at least I'll know what I want by the time I can finally buy one.

I was in the carolinas recently, I'd planned to visit a range and try a few different pistols but .... well, the family stuff ran long.

I certainly plan to visit a rental range the next time I'm in town, if nothing else than to try a few handguns that I might like to own.
