    RV on the beach

I'm thinking about renting a 25' Class C RV and spending next weekend on Sore Thumb. I take my Jeep on the sand all the time and I see RV's and truck-campers but I'm a bit apprehensive. I assume I'll have to air down but I don't believe the RV has 4WD so there's my concern. I'd hate to get stuck, ruin the weekend and have the rental company charge the shit out of me. Anyone ever do this, what do I need to know be I go?

www.longislandcampers.com is the place to ask.

You you may want to check the rental agreement. Usually going off-road is frowned upon.

Think that's only about Canadian campsites and Security Dodge bashing now, eh...

I agree, maybe I'll just hit a State Park and save the off-roading for my Jeep.

Do you have the sportfishing permit for the camper? It's tied to the lic plate of the vehicle. Read the back of it. Pretty specific regarding camping and length of stay on the beach I believe.

If it's not 4wd don't even think about taking it on the beach. Most of the campers you see are slide in campers on 4wd pickup trucks. The self contained campers you see have been converted to 4wd. There is a company in Penn. that does the conversion. Quigley's I think.

My wifes cousin has a huge tow behind (I would imagine the next size up you would need a 5th wheel for) they bring on a different beach each week. They just got their own camper but there are companies you can rent from that actually rent campers and they tow the camper onto the beach for you, set it up and away you go. They've done all the southern state parks etc. I think they like Cupsogue or whatever the best.
The escape is nowhere near complete. The inventor of LIBERAL fishing. (soon to be seen on ESPN 45 because the 44th never worked.)

you need a fishing permit issued by the state, it will go on sale again after labor day, if it is not 4wd do NOT do it yes you can air down to around 15-18 lbs and get around BUT if and when you get stuck you will get ticketed and if nobody helps you off the sand expect to pay 3k to get towed off , if you take your jeep there you should know the rules, any and all class c and class a motor homes you see on the beach have had a 4wd conversion done, towing a trailer, or fiver is no biggie its just a matter of airing down, it is a NO GO for the thumb or demo, shagwong, cupsuoge ,shinnacock, is gtg with a trailer or fiver you will need to make reservations though
