Yup, My buddy went down to his vacation house in North Carolina this weekend, went out on his boat and was wading into shore when a shark got ahold of his foot, he said it was about 5 feet long and he kept kicking and punching it, He also said the amount of blood in the water was incredible and he could not get to the boat fast enough. He was Lucky, His wife who is a Nurse practitioner, was on the boat and able to get it under control until they got to the mainland. He is now Fine, He started sending me pictures but they are just all blood not good ones of the wound itself got about 30 or so stitches.
Now here is the funny thing, You see I do not go in the water, in 1990 I was in the water surfing in manhattan beach when another surfer was attacked in the water not 50 feet away from me, that was my last day in the Ocean. I do go on boats and go fishing but never in the water (irrational fear I know) This particular friend, will go in the water and float around without fear, I always am the one to say that there could be a shark and he just laughs and pokes fun at my Fear of sharks. Always saying, it will never happen Yada yada.
Now when we were down in North Carolina, I immediately noticed that all the locals did not go in the water, Asked about it and they told me they do go in but only at certain times of year and that there are quite a few sharks around. That was enough for me, My friend was right there with me and heard the same thing, told me I was Crazy.
Well He told me tonight, he is done with the water and he never thought it would happen to him. When I asked him how it went down he said he felt a bump, looked down saw a shark, panicked tried to run and thats when it got him. I could not imagine being in that position, at least standing and not floating you feel like you have a fighting chance.
If he sends me a good pic of the wound Ill post it, His wife wont take a pic of it for me I asked LOL
