    Man down!

Happend for the first time. Couple buddies decieded to hit the surf at smithspoint under the bridge, I called the hole next to the bridge and my buddy tried racing me to it..... I go into the water excited and wreckless and BAM!! Man down. I fell off the drop and my waders quickly filled with water. I threw my rod towards the shore, fearing for my life, screaming for help, reaching for my buddy to save me. All I could think about was the horror stories of people getting sucked in and drowning. Luckily I save myself, pull myself above water, to find everyone and their mother hysterically laughing at me..... FML

Well look at the bright side. You had the presence of mind to make sure your fishing rod was safe.

The tide creates some nasty rip currents under those bridges. Even in a boat, you need to get through enough that you can point the aft towards the other side, and hit the throttle just enough to propel your boat out of the current, but not so fast that you create reckless wake. It is second nature after long enough, but I don't think you could pay me enough to swim, or fish under there, without scuba gear! No joking, I have seen debris floating around, that goes from fine, to getting rammed into the underpinning.

No.1 you put this on social media?? I could understand if you were swept off a jetty during a coastal storm with a 50 lb stripper on the line ,blood blurring your vision as you tried to get back to the jetty and not loose the fish?? But really slipping on goose shit going head first into 2 feet of water????? will the stink ever come out of those waders??

No 2....awe forget it..... I am glad your safe and the coast guard did not have to launch. ( did you get bit by any bunker?)

A 50 Lb Stripper? You mean a midget? Don't they have a show with them?

Scary stuff ..... I used to surf way back when....there isn't much a more humbling experience then having the ocean remind you that you don't belong there by keeping you from breathing.
Glad you made it back safe.

Good to hear you're okay and escaped only with some damaged pride.

Uncle Paul beat me to the snarky comment about saving your rod, so all I have left is nice things to say.

Hope you had a wader belt on. People don't realize how scary that is. I went down crossing a river in Alaska. My buddy dragged me out by grabbing my 6wt flyrod that I was holding. How it did not separate at the ferrules is beyond me.
