Free Dead Bamboo - Great For Making Your Own Fishing Rod!

DSC04945.JPG DSC04946.JPG I have three long pieces of dead bamboo that would make nice homemade fishing rods (obviously not fancy ones). One of them is 13 feet long! Wow, you could stand at the shore and catch a fish without getting your feet wet! Or you could fish in your own koi pond, but make sure you throw them back

It seems a shame to throw them away. Free to a good home

I haven't fished with a cane pole in a long, long time. Good times it was catching sunnys and the occasional bullhead.

Does bamboo ever really die? Certainly not when I try to eradicate it. Haha

A friend of mind who is a master gardener said the best way to kill it is to inject it with Round-Up (with a syringe). Pull the runner of the main stalk up, inject it, and it as well as any baby runners will die off. Naturally, the size of the runner determines the CCs in the syringe. This prevents anything growing near it to die since the Round-Up exposure is limited to the runners and not the soil. Make sure you don't push the needle in too far. That will defeat the whole purpose of this method.

Personally, I love the privacy it gives me and it's far enough from the house that I don't have to worry about runners destroying my foundation or a shed (if I had one).

Now who wants my fishing poles!???? lol

Hey - If you're in the neighborhood picking up the bamboo, I have some old lumber behind the shed.
