    Salt water regestery

Is this law even being inforced ? I have it but sometimes I may take someone fishing that doesn't. I been approached while fishing for safety checks and boat registration but never ask for the salt water registery. Has anybody ever been asked ?

It's free, no point in risking it. But I have been checked so yes it is.

I get it each year for me and the gf, then just snap a picture with my phone and keep that as proof.

Interesting story involving that registry. When the state first passed it, there was a $10 fee. Some suffolk county towns sued the state, stating that they were given jurisdiction over their waters by England before New York State was formed. They pointed out that New York State even recognized the validity of the old English patents later in the 1830's. They gave the towns the right to regulate the fishing by their residents. When the towns won in court, the state backed off the $10 fee for the whole state, and made it a free registry instead.

I was checked by Southampton Town Bay Constables in Shinnecock Bay. Short answer = yes.
Know your rights/Refuse peacefully to consent to a search /Ask if you are free to go or are being detained/Even if you are not doing anything wrong the 4th Amendment protects you against unreasonable searches/Never say anything to law enforcement even if you think it will help you/If questioned you should clearly and unequivocally request that you would like to have an attorney present and defer any questions until then/Never go to prison because you are afraid to go to jail.

Even better. When it first came out, I thought about how long I would live and bought the lifetime permit anyway, lol. when the state lost, I was refunded my whole $100. My cheap buddy lost his ten bucks to cumhole.
