    Crabbing

Where can I throw a crab trap in the water ? I have no access to private land. I live off route 110 by the Southern State. Or I would consider driving up North if something is available up north by Rt 110.

I'm assuming you want blue claws. It's rare we get them on the north shore. Many years ago my dad & I would go to the Babylon town docks & crab there with traps & a Q beam.

The Captree State Park piers always have a good catch, but they get pretty crowded in the evenings after they stop charging for the lots.

They are pretty common on Robert Moses.

Yes, but you need to take $600 , 48 hour crabbing course and 4 hour live crabbing training before applying

after getting your permit you still can’t take the crabs outside it’s restricted areas

It was OK until they limited it to six-legged crabs.

If I go to the end of wellwood ave, is anyone going to steal my trap ? I figure I would place the trap in the morning before work, and go back at lunch time ??
Does my name need to be on it ?

I wouldn't leave and expect to find them when I come back. Or at least find them with crabs inside.

Lindenhurst requires a permit !!! Over & above the NYS laws. Sounds familiar........ I'd pay for the permit...
But I couldn't place the trap at lunchtime and come back afterwork 6pm, and expect it to be there... Unless I can lock the rope down somehow.
