Matt Damon wishes U.S. gun control was like Australia’s

Promoting the latest action film in the Bourne franchise, Matt Damon said he agreed with Australia’s response to gun violence.

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t,” Damon told media Down Under.

“People get so emotional that even when you make a suggestion about not selling AK47s to people on terror watchlists, that’s a non-starter. I don’t know what needs to happen,” he continued.

“Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it,” he added.

The Australia gun ban in infamous in gun rights circles. The country pass laws prohibiting semiautomatic weapons following a mass shooting in 1996.

After enacting the law, Australia held buyback programs and law enforcement strictly enforced the law by filing criminal charges and imposing hefty fines on the non-compliant.

A recent study found that since its enactment, Australia has experienced zero mass shootings and gun deaths from homicide and suicide reduced. However, researchers were unclear if the reduction in gun deaths was a result of gun law reform.

Critics of the gun ban point to a spike in the rate of other violent crime following its enactment. However, supporters would refer to a study by the Australian Institute of Criminology that shows the rate beginning a sharp decline in 2001 and continuing the trend through 2012.

Damon, 45, has starred in three other Bourne movies. In 1997, alongside his hetero life mate, Ben Affleck, he won an Academy Award for best screenplay Good Will Hunting.
"You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it's such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can't," he said.

How nice...as he profits off of depicting countless acts of violence using firearms. Whereas people like us don't profit at all, and use our firearms to enjoy the sport. Not to mention the fact that we also educate others on safety, history, etc. So damon can go fuck himself.

Yeah, banking millions on violent action movies, but a bleeding heart liberal. Are these Hollywood douchenozzles ever going to realize that they are actors, not spokesman for the masses? How many more huge private jets/yachts is DiCaprio going to keep using for his entourage on the way to accept more awards for "protecting the environment" from evil carbon footprints??? Geeessh!

Matt Damon shouldn't do another "Jason Bourne" type movie ever again if he's so against guns! And while he's at it get rid of any bodyguards he has too! He's a fucking douchebag anyways, no talent liberal asshole who thnks because he was in some movies he knows all about the world, laws, etc and whats "good" for everybody. Fuck him...

Matt Damon has always been a do as I say not as I do hypocritical douche (his mom was a school teacher and a few years ago he campaigned for public schools then sent his kids to an expensive private school).

Let's not forget the remaining good guys in Hollywood, that's what I want to focus on:

I guess Angelina has a little of her staunch conservative father in her DNA. I guess they both don't have to give a fuck what the liberal scum in Hollywood thinks, no one is blacklisting two of the most bankable actors around. Meanwhile a great actor like James Woods has been affected.

And I am sure he gave up all his guns too! Well I was impressed that they both were Pro-Gun, but as we know with Libs, that only means they are Pro with regards to themselves. I guess one of their like minded pals said "We know we are better than the little people, so let's make sure we talk about Gun Control, because it makes us look cool to all of our other hypocrite Hollywood pals". Of course if they ever did give up their guns, when you make $20,000,000 base, plus back-end profits for each movie, it really isn't that hard to have retired Special Operator quality bodyguards. Something tells me they don't have to really worry about themselves, or their kid's safety.

Well I know I care what a guy who plays "pretend" for a living and lives in a fortress thinks.

                            Suck it Matty.

Also, doesn't Australia have one of the worst gang problems in the world? I thought I read that somewhere.... good thing their citizens aren't armed. I'd hate to hear to about a bunch of dead gangbangers......
