I’m a pretty firm no on felons for voting or juries. Sure there are people who will represent reasonable exceptions but before anyone is considered...on a case by case basis, not blanket eligibility, they need to make 100% financial restitution to the taxpayers for the investigations, prosecutions, incarcerations, meals, medical, haircuts, toilet paper, KY, soap, phone calls and every other nickel we’ve paid to provide for them while “paying their debt”.
Family on the dole? Yep, I want that recouped too.
After that then the LE and prosecutors involved and then finally the family members or other victims of their crimes have to sign off.
Like it or not, society has rules and expectations. I live by them, so does my family and so do the people I choose to associate with.

Don't want to jump through a few hoops? Don’t do the crime.

That is a lucid, intelligent, well-thought out objection.

There has to be exceptions. Murderers, molesters, rapists, violent offenders, repeat offenders...the lawless should not have a say in who we elect which in turn determines the laws the rest of us actually abide by. That's not just a slippery slope, that's the road to total anarchy which the liberals fully embrace. Felons, illegals, socialists and the Nation of Islam are the face of the new libtard republic now.

Yeah, and THAT. If the liberals think these felons are okay enough to vote, 2A should be perfectly acceptable as well. I mean gosh, they paid their debt, right? I mean minus actually paying it for it since the taxpayers were stuck with *that* bill.

Well, if a jury is supposed to be a group of your peers judging you then who better to decided if you actions are felonious than people who are felons!
I am not armed out of fear of who's in front of me.
I am armed out of love of those behind me.

Not universally, IMO. There are certain crimes that are so egregious and are so counter to a civilized society that they should stand as exceptions. Murder of a police officer or other public servant, pedophilia, crimes against the state are a few examples.
Criminal justice, by design is intended to be in part punitive. Suspension of certain rights, freedoms and societal privileges are entirely appropriate.

Let’s be adults here, it’s for the votes. Pure and simply about votes. That the vote of that demographic over, even in spite of law abiding and hard working taxpayers is what he/they prefer runs against every principal we were founded on.

There are some politicians that want jailed felons to vote. Imagine a small town of 1000 people with a prison inside it's boarders. This prison has a population of 4000 and everyone can vote. How screwed up is that. They can have enough votes to vote in whoever they want.

Maybe some crimes come at such a high cost that the debt can never be repaid. But many will reach a reasonable level of maturity. And we did go too far to the right since the '80's on our incarceration rates, most of it over the drug war.

Until someone who was killed comes back to life or every penny of what was stolen or destroyed is repaid, they should remain in prison.
Why should a murderer or rapist get to go free when the victims are still suffering the loss.
While you may think the punishments were too severe, we might not have the opium epidemic we have now if the punishments were not lessened for the drug dealers.
Give peace a chance, I'll cover you in case that doesn't work out.

LIBERALISM should be classified as a MENTAL DISORDER!
