    NY Manufacturing "Unexpectedly" Contracts

If by "unexpected" you mean "we completely told you so."

Manufacturing activity in the New York region unexpectedly contracted in the month of August, according to a report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Monday.

Manufacturing activity in the New York region unexpectedly contracted in the month of August, according to a report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Monday.

The New York Fed said its general business conditions index fell to a negative 4.21 in August from a positive 0.55 in July. A negative reading indicates a contraction in New York manufacturing activity.

The decline by the index came as a surprise to economists, who had expected the index to climb to a positive 2.50.

It's only a "surprise" to those with rose colored glasses. Everyone else who has even a basic understanding of economics isn't surprised at all.
High taxes, crushing regulation, hostile legislation and legislature isn't exactly a welcome to manufacturing or business in general.

We often hear about "todays economy". A more honest term would be oblamer's economy.

That's not even taking into account Princess Andy's own contribution to chasing away and otherwise punishing NYS businesses.
Exercise the Bill of Rights. It's good for your Constitution.

Goes way beyond Obama. Just about every president and politician in the past 100 years contributed to the strangulation of econmic freedom in this country. Of course there were a few exceptions like Harding and Coolidge. But even they added to the leviathan in some ways

If you want to leave you got to make it happen.

Once I have enough for a house I'll be looking for employment in various areas of TN.

Wife is on board. 2019 I begin my hunt.

Yeah, I know. I am with a good company that has a pension which is unheard of nowadays so unless I transfer the loss of the pension is huge.

Golden handcuffs and all that. Not complaining but it's just harder due to that.

But TN is on my radar although I also liked CO when I visited years back. Not sure what the climate is now politically speaking.

So the math on your taxes paid here. You'd probably be ahead in 10 years once you left.

Change is scary shit. But there's no benefit to stick it out in my opinion. Druggies and liberal shit dealers are living off your hard earned taxed property and income.

                    Its disgusting.

But but but....I see ads on TV all the time saying how NY is expanding business and manufacturing thanks to economic development zones and tax breaks!

I am not armed out of fear of who's in front of me.
I am armed out of love of those behind me.

Anyone who says money doesn't matter to them is either a FOOL or a LIAR or BOTH!

This is a good a place as any (not trying to hijack your thread OP, it relates). Every month we hear about record unemployment, 4.6% I think on LI. Every quarter we hear the fed tell us how many jobs have been created and how peachy everything is. Usually 2 months after these reports are released, they friggin revise them, downward. Every, single time. I have had so many WTF moments reading labor reports and knowing the numbers are pure fiction.
How can any agency be so incompetent that they are wrong every time? (Sarc on) How is there not outrage that these bullshit numbers keep getting published and adjusted?
OP includes a chart that largely shows what I am saying and that's only NY, geez.
