Petition for control of local zoning laws.

Town of Hempstead started this petition

Kathy Hochul’s urbanization plan is back and worse than ever. In her recent State of the State address, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a proposal to create high-density housing zones around every Long Island train station while also stripping local towns and villages (and thereby the residents) of their ability to control local zoning. This proposal ensures that large scale multifamily housing will be developed around each train station while removing the right of residents to challenge the development. To make matters worse, the Governor’s plan will eliminate public hearings for development projects, effectively silencing the community’s input regarding the future of their neighborhoods and homes. This is signaling the end for single-family home neighborhoods and is a direct assault on the suburbs.

The proposed plan is a power grab for New York State and will force Long Island to become the sixth borough of New York City. While the proposal speaks to creating high density housing, it does not address upgrading the existing infrastructure to accommodate the population increase. Schools will be overcrowded, volunteer fire departments will be overworked and the amount of cars on our local roadways will surge.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin and the Town Board need YOUR help in saving our suburbs. Let Governor Kathy Hochul know that we will NOT give up our right to a suburban quality-of-life. Help us send a message to Albany by signing this petition and calling the following numbers to have your voice heard:

    Governor Kathy Hochul – (518) 474-8390

    Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie – (518) 455-3791

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins – (518) 426-6853

Wait, I take it back. Governor Hochul should have complete control of all laws in the state of NY. She cares. It's for the children.

Unfortunately she’s not the originator of this idea… just a paid sellout! Think tanks like the Trilateral Commission, the Rockefeller Foundation and The Club of Rome and others have been narrating these plans to the United Nations with the help of the World Economic Forum for quite some time but are now being implicated , just look at the Village of Farmingdale , Westbury and Wyandanch among others .

scary stuff for the Freedom and Liberty minded.

Construction has already started in Bay Shore. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to fill the hundreds of new units, and who will be filling them.

Why is she concerned about building massive amounts of housing if everyone is leaving and the NY population is shrinking at historic rates?

I've been telling people that when they see these 'units' go up; RUN....the Democraps are coming!
All kidding aside, these have been going up all over now over the last 10 years. Near the train stations. One right in my neck of the woods on Main street across from the Smithtown station.
The only thing is these things look 'expensive' (as in per unit cost/ rental). And the worst of it is knowing that SOME of it will be 'subsidized' housing. More than likely for 'poor people'; i.e.: immigrants, people of 'color, etc, which will also serve the master plan of 'gentrification'.
The dominoes of Liberalism have been been placed/ played, all the while our 'elected' officials have failed us
