Let's get this new site going he right direction. I have some projects on the back burner but it looks like I am going to have some time to get started on one or two. Firstly I hope to work on new wood furniture for my Saiga and second is to move the trigger group on my WASR because I just don't care for the Thordsen I threw on it for compliance purposes. That being said does any one have any ideas or projects they have been working on or ideas for projects kicking around in their head.

I got some new Saiga sporter refinishing projects in the works including a "Parker" 5.45 with a bakelite. Will retake photos of some of the other refinished "NY saigas" now that I have a real DSLR. Will repost and new post all that stuff up soon.
I've been trying to get more AK aesthetics on the plain jane Saiga, as you know. Sure, for many it's not AK-ish enough but I need semi auto with a detachable mag capacity.

Now remember since the factory FCG is moved back due to the import laws not allowing a PG, there is a longer linkage there, so it's not like a "real" AK trigger. I found the quality of the factory trigger varies greatly from rifle to rifle and caliber as well. They're not great, but some are actually much better than expected.

Cool thanks Detro, I know you have a lot of experience with the Saiga platform rifles, Are there any feedbacks on that Tapco trigger ? Install issues or quality part complaints that you know of ?

The Tapco G2 is commonly used on imported AKs like the WASR. It's all fine and good. The problem with the factory "sporter" saigas is because they move the trigger back to work with the sporter (for the import law) you have a different trigger with a longer linkage, so there are no real replacement or aftermarket triggers for the sporter, as most people drill it out and do a pistol grip conversion, moving the trigger assembly back to where it belongs.
Check out Carolina Shooting Supplies or Missispi Auto Arms (I have the links in the Saiga 101 thread on here). They have a customized version of the tapco that will work with the sporter. It's good but unless the trigger on your particular Saiga is that off, it might be more trouble than it's worth unless you are comfortable with trigger work.

I picked up the proper front sight base with folding spike bayonet.
Still need to find a gas block with the cleaning rod hole. Not sure why they ground that all the way off.
I have a line on the furniture but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.
Looking at about 5-600 dollars in parts, which sounds like a lot, but I practically stole the rifle so it comes in at about a grand less than an unmolested Polytech T56, which is what it was before it got caught up in the '89 Bush executive order ban.
