    M1941 Johnson Rifle

As long as we have a nice M1 Garand posted, might as well have its competitor for the Army standard issue rifle in WW2.
The 1941 Johnson. 10 round rotary magazine fed by stripper clips. Reciprocating barrel to cycle the rifle in semi auto. Has a spike type bayonet to reduce the mass on the barrel to prevent failure to cycle. Saw some use in the pacific theater with the marines.
This one is in unissued condition with beautiful wood.

They are fetching quite a bit of money but they must be in top condition. Don't buy a lesser example and overpay

I don't think it has ever been shot after the factory. Doesn't look like it.
They are running in the $4500.00-$6000.00 range believe it or not and some higher depending on the buyer. There are enough in very good condition that you shouldn't have to go crazy to get a good one at a fair price.
Look on GB, there are usually a few. Some get bids and the lesser examples at high prices do not.

Beautiful rifle. I had the opportunity to pick one up about 8 years ago, but I was in my modern military firearms phase and hadn't gotten into the classic milsurp stuff yet. Now I'm kicking myself for not knowing any better.

Ron, without upsetting anyone too much, how much were these going for "back in the day"? $300.00?
