    Marlin 1895

Last month I bought my first lever rifle, a Marlin 336C. I've been bitten by the bug and I'm already planning my next purchase. A big bore old school thumper(45-70) is what it's going to be. Right now I'm leaning towards the 1895BDL, laminate stock, blued, big loop. I recall some of you guys have 1985's and looking for any tips you can offer me about your choices and any plus or minuses about the different variants. What do you think about Pistol grip or straight stocks? I'm kind of partial to pistol but I like the old time look of the straight. Seems the pistol might help more with recoil absorption but not sure. Any advice welcomed, thanks.

Levers rock. I have the 357 in rossi 16" & 20 and a Marlin. One or more makes the range just about every time I get to the range
