    Antique lever action restoration

Okay, it is just a late 50s early 60s Daisy Red Ryder but still...

This was my grandfathers, I found it in his garage a few years ago and I could tell it was not working right, when you cocked it and pulled the trigger you could hear the air slowly escape. This is the BB gun I used as a kid to keep the tree rats off my grandparents apple and peach trees, it would sit on the coping of the pool as we swam and if we saw a squirrel, bang, and the squirrel would go running. Sorry Debbie. The thread about the peach trees made me pull this out tonight and see if I could get it working.

I pulled out the barrel, and it was completely blocked. I used a metal coat hanger to knock the rust out, then I pulled the stock and lubed the action, the barrel and any moving parts. It seems to have come to life, now when i cock it and pull the trigger you can feel the power behind it. I just need to get some BBs and give it a test run.

Uh oh. Peach tree thread? Something tells me I should be happy I missed that one

Very sweet story and a cute little gun. I have my Dad's old RR. I should clean it up just like that.

          Nice job Ben.

If you need a parts gun for it, I think we've got one around here.

I have a cesspool near my peach tree......I'd like to put you on retainer. I'll supply the ammo, tree, and tree rats, you supply your swim trunks....Let me know how quickly you can come by...although the peaches are gone already!

Paté has told me of this trap. I come in for a BB gun for parts and leave with a bunch of pistols.

Very cool that you guys still have your grandfathers Red Ryder, and that you're bringing it back to life.
That would be awesome to keep passing down.

I came across this site that gets into some of the the history of them and changes over the years.
Looks like you have a version of a Model 94, made from 1954 to 1961,

Model 94 starts at page 18

Looking forward to the range report.... or squirrel count.
