I finished my first build last week and went to shoot it at Calverton on Sunday Morning. I went a little nuts with this build;
Anderson Upper and Lower (from Jerry's Firearms)
20 Inch Anderson Bull Barrell (heavy barrel)
Custom Skull One Shot Hand Guard (from Jerry's)
PSA lower parts kit
Geissele SSA Trigger
Spikes Tactical Nickel Borron BCG
Raptor Charging Handle
ACE Skeleton Stock
Phase 5 EBR (Battery Assist lever)
Punisher Engraved trigger Guard
45 degree offset back up iron sights
On order- Nikon ProStaff 4-12x scope
The build went together with out a problem. Installing the tiny pin in the gas block for the tube was a challenge but with patience I got it done. MR. Anderson (as my son calls the rifle) shoots really smooth with little to no recoil (I think the Bull barrel has something to do with it). I had an inexpensive scope on it and the scope failed miserably so I just ordered the Nikon ProStaff. The off set sights were also a disappointment, They shot so far off the paper that they could not be zeroed in. I shot it just sighting down the barrel and shot very successfully (hitting my 4 inch steel at 100 yards) and was very happy with Mr. Anderson's performance. I can't wait to get back to the range with the new scope. I still have to install the maglock (boo) but I am reluctant because I like a detachable mag and I also like the pistol grip. I am not sure which I like more and which one I will do without. For now it is stored in the safe with the upper and lower separated (for stupid legal reasons).
I had a lot of fun ordering the parts and building the rifle, now I have the bug. Building these is like getting a tattoo, once you are done you start thinking about the next one. Maybe the next one will be a .308.
