wow, looking at the national match M1A with the camo McMillan stock was like a time warp to 1997. Awesome. Only thing missing was carbide smoke on the top of the barrel.

I’m in no position to be shopping $4K rifles right now, add glass and it is $6K. If I get back to the point where I’m going there I think it’ll be for more of a long range, precision platform.
My M1A isn’t near as sweet as these rifles, thanks for posting.

Besides, isn’t 6.5 what all the cool kids are shooting this week?

If an AR15 is a 3 or 4 out of 10 on a gunsmith scale. Where is an M1A? Debating building one versus just going with an AR10

It does not appear all that difficult but you should make that call yourself. See here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zGKxuN2Pees , https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ck4Tp9EeOrU . The problem to me is buying all the tools will drive the price up over the cost of buying one off the shelf

There is an alternative. I bought a Bula Defense barreled action which has a forged receiver and which, with a minimum of tools goes together in an hour or less (SEE TONY BEN VIDEOS).
Most of their parts are forged and they are a prime supplier of M14 parts to the government. Currently, JRA is manufacturing complete M14 rifles using Bula Defense parts, at around $1500 and they are getting great reviews on the current lineup.
Interesting is that you can get an M14 cutoff heel and they’ll perfectly weld it to a new receiver (completely legal), which should create a stir at the local range or when they bust down your door to check your arsenal.
