    Replacing the ARES SCR Forearm

I didn’t want to highjack the other thread about the Diamondhead VRS T-556 forearm so I started my own.

Replacing the Magpul forearm really improves the look and function of the ARES SCR.

Here is mine with the DSI Gen 2 Keymod Free Float Narrow Profile Forearm 12".

I also mounted Mako Group (FAB) AR-15 front and rear back-up sights (which are only “ok”), and a Sun Optics USA Flashlight/Laser 146-CLFMF6X (which I like a lot).

Love the Ares. Built one with a heavy 20" bull barrel. Tack driver!

Can you recommend an after market trigger?

No. Did a little tuning my self. You have the newer gen 2 trigger or an earlier one?

It is supposedly the gen 2 trigger (ARES SCR 002) but the trigger felt heavy to me, and the company would not verify via the serial number that it was. Instead, they offered to examine it if I shipped it to them (which I don't want to do).

What's the verdict on these? I've been toying with the idea of picking one up so I have something besides my SKS to shoot in NY.

I like it but I got a Mini 14 just in case.

I found the trigger to get smoother as I shot it. If you bought it new recently its prob gen 2. The 1st run the trigger was real heavy.

Got one for my SO. Replaced the Magpul handguard with a slimmer Diamondhead carbine handguard, put on a MRO optic and it's a very nice lightweight rifle for her.

                          Any solutions ?

The ARES SCR commonly ejects shells back toward the shooter. You may want to use a brass catcher such as Caldwell to prevent scratches on the receiver.

                              Looks great
How about cutting a small piece of black thin rubber and silicone it on to prevent the scatches
