Want It – Absolutely Do Not Need It

Mossberg/Maverick has made an over/under shorty shotgun called the HS12 Thunder Ranch since 2012. It is approximately 36 inches long and weighs around 6 pounds. It is a tacticool synthetic black.

Its MSRP is $594.00 but can be purchased for $460.00 if you shop around on-line.

It has some safety features which can be annoying. For example, the safety automatically engages when the shotgun is pointed downward or sideways.

Since most cannot have a Mare’s Leg in NY, this modern day “stage coach” shotgun is a nice alternative for those who grew up watching cowboy movies.

They are not very practical and that is why most people don't know about them. I will probably get one and never shoot it, but be happy just the same.

I think I know what you mean. Personally, I like the Stoeger Double Defense O/U

Give a man fire, and he stays warm for one night. Set a man on fire, and he stays warm for the rest of his life.

I have both the thunder ranch and the cz coach gun with rebounding hammers. Both great shotguns if you like double barrels.

uncle joe says just the sound of the shotgun racking will send the bad guys packing too, wonder if the bad guys would recongnize/respond the same way to the action closing on that shotty

I was actually thinking about this last night.....and something like this does make sense for the homeowner with little/no firearms experience that wants something to protect the house.

Not a lot of training required. Point, pull trigger....pull trigger again. After that it's a baseball bat if you don't know how to reload but still.

Hate to say it, I know/have met more than a handful of new shotgun shooters who are much more comfortable with a break action than a pump or semi.
