Yup. Under investigation by the FBI. Bergen Point Golf Course is 3 miles from my house too. I play there a few time every year.

I don't know the situation and he was not on trial.
But I feel deeply for his family.
          RIP.

This bribery-and-favors scandal is going to claim some more victims.
Know your rights/Refuse peacefully to consent to a search /Ask if you are free to go or are being detained/Even if you are not doing anything wrong the 4th Amendment protects you against unreasonable searches/Never say anything to law enforcement even if you think it will help you/If questioned you should clearly and unequivocally request that you would like to have an attorney present and defer any questions until then/Never go to prison because you are afraid to go to jail.

                      Sorry for the family

Dealing with the beards is tough, could be either play nice and take their offerings or the whole tribe will be marching in the street

Don't know him, Other brass that really deserve it get to retirement and never get jammed up

I know this won't be a popular answer. From what I gather he was a corrupt public servant and couldn't man up and face the consequences for his actions. The guy wouldn't have killed himself after files were seized if he was a honest guy. I will use my tears on productive, honest members of society.

I know I don't know the whole story but no one ever knows the whole story. From I gather the guy did the crime and didn't want to do the time. I will apologize if my conclusion is wrong which I doubt.

Regardless of being in the midst of the investigation, suicide continues to be a problem in LE. Hard to spot the signs. It's kept quiet and these men and women suffer in silence. I can't imagine the state of mind that would lead up to such a grave act. Self preservation is an innate behavior and when it's lacking, there is something horribly wrong.

Gents, by no means I want to start an anti-cop discussion. I have 3 close friends that are police officers and seriously considered becoming one when I was younger. According to friends, you have to be a real scumbag as a cop to go into NYPD highway patrol. Those guys don't even honor PBA cards of wives of other officers. I feel sorry for this guy's family, but again, you don't become head of Highway Patrol and being under FBI investigation by being a good guy or a police officer.
